A boom in second marriages has led to a rise in the number of people changing their minds about earlier decisions not to have any more children. Duncan Harriss, a surgeon who offers the procedure at the BMI Park Hospital in Nottingham, said he now carries out up to 150 a year operations a year, compared with only about 10 or 15 in the late 1990s.
